The CBN Foundation team partnered with Prodigals’ Home in Dimapur, Nagaland, to establish a Braille library for visually impaired students, featuring Braille textbooks designed by Raised Lines Foundation, an IIT-incubated team. The library includes accessible and standardised Braille learning materials across subjects such as Computer, General Science, Geometry, Art & Drawing, and World Map, placed in an easily accessible space to support inclusive education.
This initiative addresses the long-standing gap in quality Braille resources in Nagaland and strengthens education for children with visual impairment. By creating a shared learning environment, the library supports students in exam preparation, higher education, improved communication skills, and confident participation in community life.
What This Library Means to Them
“Braille books were received earlier too, but the books provided through CBN Foundation were different—more standardised and creative, especially the well-defined illustrations. We are grateful that our needs were truly understood.”
— Marylin, Class 12 student
“The tactile Braille books, especially for subjects like Computer, have excited the students. The clear embossment and illustrations are helping students with visual impairment understand better and perform with confidence.”
— K Ela, Director, Prodigals’ Home
