“There were times I felt life was over,” she says. Living in a small house with her parents, even basic needs like food and clothing were daily challenges.

Determined to build a better future, she joined CBN Foundation’s tailoring training program. There, she learned fabric selection, product design, and marketing. From stitching bags to creating festive décor, she slowly rediscovered her confidence.
“I believed I knew enough, but the training truly opened my eyes to the finer details,” she says.
Stitching a New Future
Kusum Lata’s biggest hurdle was her old, second-hand sewing machine. It couldn’t keep up with her growing skills and the orders she was receiving. Thanks to your support, that changed.
She received the machine she had dreamed of for 10 years.
“When I got the machine, I felt like my dream was finally real. It gave me purpose again.”
Today, she earns an average of ₹5,000 a month from home and is working toward her next goal—starting a tailoring center to empower more women like herself.
