Financial Struggles Stopped Her Education
As a result of financial hardship, a young Shalu’s education journey was put on hold when she was forced to drop out of school. Her parents, who struggled to meet her school fees, continued to work hard to support Shalu’s dream of studying. For three years, Shalu wondered when she might be able to return to her learning journey and continued holding onto hope for her future.
Denied Admission After Dropping Out
After those three years of financial struggle, Shalu’s family attempted to enroll her back into the education system. She was excited to continue where she had left off but was shocked to learn that she could not re-enroll. Her admission back into school was denied because too much time had passed since she had dropped out.
After yet another setback, a disheartened Shalu began losing hope and wondered whether continuing her education would even be possible anymore.
A Scholarship Gave Her a Second Chance
In an attempt to make a livelihood and help support her family through financial hardship, she enrolled in the CBN Foundation’s Sewing Training Programme, where her teacher noticed she was no longer studying.
With the encouragement and support of her teachers at the CBN Foundation programme, Shalu felt motivated once more and considered returning to school. Through the help of donors, the CBN Foundation was able to provide her with a scholarship and admission into Class 10, giving her a second chance to fulfill her dream of learning and creating a brighter future for herself.
Initially, her parents expressed concerns regarding Shalu’s ability to integrate back into the education system after being away for several years. Yet, she remained determined and diligent in her studies, working hard to make the most of the opportunity she once wondered if she would ever receive.
Studying Towards Her Dream
Now studying earnestly to fulfill her dream of becoming a designer, Shalu firmly believes that education is not something to give up on. The CBN Foundation is proud to have helped her and her family realize this and provide her with a second chance at continuing her education.
